Lightening the Shadow

Seven Years May Be a Turning Point

5/9/2016

Seven years ago today, I came down with a cold that was mild, except for debilitating exhaustion. The cold went away; the exhaustion never did. Several other symptoms showed up within the first month of my illness.

But today I feel more hopeful than I have on any May 9 of the past seven years. A treatment has lightened my weariness and brain fog. I'm taking action to ensure others are aware of ME/CFS. For example:
  • I mailed a pair of shoes to an activist who will place them at a protest in Washington, DC, on May 25.
  • I described ME/CFS to a doctor at UNC's medical school who was unfamiliar with it.
  • I'm helping another patient write an article about misdiagnosis of ME/CFS.

Stay tuned to see what else I accomplish in this new year of life with ME/CFS.
